Air Travel
Attendees will fly into Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport (MSY) the afternoon of November 14th, and depart the morning of November 16th. If you choose to stay in New Orleans beyond the conference dates, the traveler will need to pay the difference if the airfare is more than the November 16th departure rate. Travel will be booked by Dr. Renne's assistant, Dorci Nance. Please complete this secure Travel Request Form (opens in new window), and Dorci will promptly send you flight options. Please note that University policy only allows for economy travel. |
Local Information
The symposium will be held in the Faubourg Marigny district of New Orleans, a few blocks from the heart of the French Quarter. There is a tram stop a few minutes' walk from the hotel, or you can take a ~15 minute walk to popular sites, such as Cafe du Monde for some coffee and beignets, or the Shops on the Colonnade facing the Mississippi River. If you're into the creepier side of NOLA, visit the New Orleans Historic Voodoo museum, or Louis Armstrong Park- home to several famous cemeteries. There are also plenty of great restaurants and bars to explore on the world-famous Bourbon Street. |
The average temperature in NOLA in November is usually in the low-70s during the day, and can drop into the low-50s at night. Pack an umbrella in case of rain! |
